Elgin Street Social Housing
Stage 3 of the Living Carlton development includes an eight-level Social Housing building being developed for the Department of Human Services, Victoria. The building forms part of a new precinct that includes two new private apartment buildings and a new public park. The eight-storey building comprises 112 social housing apartments, including a mix of one, two, three and four bedroom apartments.
Designed by Melbourne architects Fender Katsalidis, the building presents a series of subtly articulated forms that will resonate with existing building typologies, the local streetscapes and the public park. The building incorporates a range of Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) features.
